Excellence in education

Monash consistently ranks among the top one per cent of world universities and is one of Australia's most prestigious. We attract and retain talented staff, who are dedicated to academic excellence. Our degrees are highly respected by employers and prepare you to work all over the world.

Enviable reputation

Rankings are only part of the picture, but they demonstrate our ambition and commitment to excellence. When you study at Monash University Malaysia, you receive a tertiary education of the highest order from a university ranked in the top 100 in the world, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020. In specific areas, Monash is ranked in the top 50 in Engineering and Technology, top 60 for Life Sciences and Medicine and top 70 for Social Science.

Quality assured

Our courses are accredited in Malaysia and Australia, so you obtain a qualification that is locally relevant and internationally accepted.

Internationally successful graduates

Employers value our quality degrees. According to the New York Times, the world's top CEOs are more likely to hire Monash graduates.

We produce graduates who can lead and contribute to their local and regional communities. They can be found in positions of importance all over the world.

Motivated and inspiring staff

Our staff encourage you to contribute ideas that have impact. Dr Simon Egerton, our researcher from the School of IT, created a charity dedicated to exploring the use of science fiction as a means to motivate and direct research into new technologies. It’s innovative thinking like this that helped inspire final year Bachelor of Computer Science students, Poh Guan and Wei Juin. They’re creating a software program that helps identify manta rays in an effort to protect and conserve the species.

Research with impact

From discovering new drugs and herbal treatments, derived from Malaysia’s rich natural biodiversity, to studying indicators to measure business leaders’ perception of the local business environment, our research is diverse and multidisciplinary.

This multidisciplinary approach has led to research that has been published in high-impact international journals and books, and used by policymakers and industry.

Our campus is home to some unique research facilities, such as the South East Asian Community Observatory , a cross-disciplinary and multi-institutional collaboration, now piloting a community health study in south Malaysia, and the Brain Research Institute Monash Sunway (BRIMS), which delves deep into neurological issues.

Regional ambition

Our work attracts the attention of leading research universities and industry. Consequently, it attracts substantial funding and generates valuable international linkages. As our collaborations grow, we are helping to position Malaysia as a regional centre for educational and research excellence.
