Parents and families of our students are an important part of the Monash University community. You play a vital role during your student’s journey at Monash, and we want to ensure that you have all the information and resources that you’ll need to support your student.
Releasing personal information about students
Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Malaysia), the University cannot release any information about students to a third party, including parents/guardians, without that student’s permission.
In an emergency, University staff will contact the student’s next of kin if required.

Student pass is mandatory for all international students who wish to pursue his or her studies in any Institution of Higher Learning in Malaysia. This pass is regulated by Jabatan Immigration Malaysia

For us to provide you with the information, we require students to submit an Authorisation to Release Personal Information. Please note that this authorisation is limited to academic progression and standing, in-person collection of academic transcripts or letters, and student-related fee details only. Alternatively, you can obtain this information directly from the student.

Yes, subject to meeting the requirements of the Faculties
- The student leaves Monash Malaysia to study and completes the course at an Australian campus
- Tuition fees and all other expenses are paid in Australian Dollars
- Students should create their course map, before applying for transfer and discuss their plans with the School’s Education Management Office

Students who wish to transfer to another Monash campus (e.g. Australia) after completing an exchange program will have to start paying fees to the new campus based on the current fee rate for that year.
For example, they commenced their course in 2015 at Monash Malaysia and then transfer to Monash Australia in 2017, they will start paying Monash Australia’s 2017 fees.
Transfer to other institutions will be managed by the student. The University only provides support for transfer within Monash campuses.

The conditions to retain (or continue) a scholarship would include meeting a maintenance score and enrolling in a full-time study load, among others. The terms and conditions are provided in the scholarship offer letter and are specific for each scholarship.
