If you are working, who is your current employer and what is your role?
I’m currently working as a lecturer at the Division of Applied Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology, International 365体育投注_365体育网址-【官网直营】 University, Malaysia.
Why did you choose Monash Malaysia?
I was interested at the research project offered by Associate Professor Dr Ong Chin Eng back then, and by considering the university’s reputation, its world ranking and its well-established research infrastructures, I decided to enroll in Monash.
While at Monash, what type of opportunities did you participate in?
I would like to thank Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, School of Pharmacy and the Malaysia campus for providing the travel funds to postgraduate students in Monash Malaysia. I have attended two local and one international conferences to present research findings during my study using the student travel funds where I got to interact with the other researchers from different universities and industries as well as attending several interesting and informative talks.
What insights, skills or experience made a difference to your own life or the lives of others around you?
The Phd journey at Monash has not only broaden my knowledge and also improved my research skills in the field of pharmacology. Being a Phd student by research, I have learned how to work independently and communicate effectively with supervisors and peers, and I have also developed a better critical thinking skill. I hope my research findings on drug-natural products interaction will benefit the community, especially the elderly group.
What do you love most about your student life at Monash?
I have met many good souls in Monash and we have shared a lot of treasured moments. I will remember the small talks we used to have over lunch, the coffees and the chocolates! I also loved the activities organised by MUPA, where I got to mix with friends from other disciplines, while enjoying the free food and stress-relieving activities
What is your goal/dream in life, where are you headed to in the future?
I hope to figure out the way to extend the lifespan of human through gene therapy.
What is your advice to current Monash Malaysia students?
Study is a life-long learning process. Research is a passion. Keep trying and never give up, you will see the light at the end of the tunnel.
